Sarum Systems designs, installs, commissions and maintains fire detection using Apollo detectors across Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk, working from Harlow. Apollo devices are fitted to many of the existing systems we look after, so a lot of our work is extending, servicing or repairing those systems rather than starting again. Whether you have a school with older XP95 detectors, an office on Discovery or a new building that needs Soteria, we make sure new devices suit the panel and the loop, and that the system is serviced to BS 5839-1.
Apollo Fire Detectors makes smoke, heat and multi-sensor detectors, plus sounder and visual indicator bases, for addressable and conventional fire systems. Its addressable ranges are XP95, Discovery and Soteria, with XP95 the foundation the later ranges were developed from, and Apollo states that its products are fully backwards compatible. Orbis is its conventional range. That continuity is the practical reason to stay with Apollo: a building with older XP95 detectors can usually be extended with current devices on the same loop, as long as the panel supports the right protocol. It suits schools, offices, flats and industrial buildings that will be extended and altered many times over their life.
Apollo's latest addressable range, using digital CoreProtocol communications, with optical, heat, multi-sensor and tri-sensor detectors. Compatible with Discovery and XP95 systems, though not every feature works on those panels.
Flush-mounted optical smoke detector with no chamber, for ceilings where a standard detector would look out of place, such as receptions, offices and refurbished interiors.
EN approved addressable range built on XP95 technology and more adaptable than it. Compatible with both XP95 and Soteria devices, which keeps extensions simple.
The addressable range Apollo's later ranges were developed from, still in service on older sites. Soteria devices fitted to XP95 bases operate as Discovery units on Discovery or XP95 protocol.
Apollo's conventional detector range, including multi-sensor detectors, used on zoned systems. Compatible with Apollo Series 65 detectors when extending older conventional systems.
When we take over an Apollo system, the first job is finding out what is actually on the loop. Older buildings often have a mix of XP95, Discovery and newer devices, and the panel's protocol decides what can be added. We record every device type and address, check the panel log for faults and contamination warnings, test detectors and sounders, and confirm the system category still matches the fire risk assessment. Then you get a clear report, a servicing schedule at intervals of no more than six months, and a three hour response if a fault comes in.
Apollo detectors turn up on many of the systems we look after around Harlow and across Essex and Hertfordshire. Schools that add a classroom block need new detectors that work with the existing loop. Industrial units on Templefields that are split for new tenants need devices moved and re-addressed. Landlords and letting agents with HMOs and flats need common parts covered and serviced to meet their duties under the Fire Safety Order. New commercial buildings can go straight to Soteria, with room to extend later.
