Sarum Systems designs, installs and maintains CCTV across Maldon, Heybridge and Heybridge Basin, from shops on the historic High Street to industrial units on The Causeway and new homes at Handley Gardens and Westcombe Park. Maldon is a waterside town, and that changes the brief: wide open views across the Blackwater, quays with public access, and wind and salt air working on every bracket. We fit Hikvision equipment, survey free before quoting, and hold a three hour response commitment on maintained systems, so a dead camera is back up before the footage you needed has been overwritten.
HD & 4K camera systems with remote viewing, recording and smart motion alerts.
Wired & wireless intruder alarms, monitored and app-connected, fitted to BS EN 50131.
Keypad, fob and door-entry systems that control exactly who goes where.
Fire detection and alarm systems designed, installed and serviced to BS 5839.
Maldon splits into three quite different camera jobs. The old town climbs from Hythe Quay up to the High Street, a conservation area designated in 1969 with close to two hundred listed buildings, where cameras have to sit discreetly on existing elevations and keep off the pavement. Down at the waterfront, Hythe Quay is a berth for the Thames sailing barges and also, as the council itself describes it, a residential area, so coverage of moored boats and quayside stores has to respect neighbours and the public walkway. Heybridge carries the commercial weight: Blackwater Trading Estate on The Causeway, Benbridge Industrial Estate off Holloway Road and the Bentall complex on Colchester Road all have yards, loading doors and open storage. Out at Heybridge Basin, where the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation meets the estuary through the sea lock, boats and waterside cottages sit at the end of a long road with very little light at night. External fittings have to respect local rules, and we always work to the guidance published by Maldon District Council.
Waterside sites are hard on cameras. Salt air corrodes cheap brackets and fixings within a couple of winters, and a camera pointed straight down the estuary at sunset will flare out exactly when you need it. We use corrosion-resistant fixings, angle cameras across the water rather than into it, and choose models with proper wide dynamic range for the quay and the basin. On the Heybridge trading estates we put identification cameras at the vehicle gate and the personnel door, with overview cameras covering open storage. On the new-build streets at Handley Gardens off Limebrook Way and Westcombe Park off Maypole Road, the weak points are side gates, rear parking courts and cars on the drive, and homes sit close together, so we set views and privacy masks to your own plot. If a camera does capture beyond your boundary, UK GDPR applies, and we explain what that means.
New homes around Maldon are going up on the edge of the town and across at Heybridge. If you have just moved in, we fit cameras once snagging is done, run cables through the loft and keep fixings to the minimum, so nothing complicates the builder's warranty.
