Sarum Systems designs, installs and maintains fire alarms across Braintree and the district, with much of our work in warehouses and industrial units on Springwood, Park Drive and Broomhills, along with offices, schools, care settings and older buildings in the town centre. We use Apollo detection on Kentec and Advanced panels, take on systems another installer left behind, and service everything to BS 5839-1. We start with a free survey and your fire risk assessment, and maintained sites get an engineer on site within three hours of a fault.
HD & 4K camera systems with remote viewing, recording and smart motion alerts.
Wired & wireless intruder alarms, monitored and app-connected, fitted to BS EN 50131.
Keypad, fob and door-entry systems that control exactly who goes where.
Fire detection and alarm systems designed, installed and serviced to BS 5839.
Braintree's employment land is mostly industrial and storage, on Springwood, Park Drive and the Broomhills estate off Pod's Brook Lane. Those buildings bring problems office sites do not: high roofs where smoke can stall before it reaches a ceiling detector, dust and forklift exhaust that trigger the wrong head, and units empty all night with stock worth more than the building. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service does not send crews on an automatic alarm signal unless a 999 call confirms fire, so an unmanned warehouse at 2am needs a plan for who gets told and who checks. The town's silk and textile past, from the Courtauld mills to Warner and Sons, left older industrial buildings in and around the centre, and listed public buildings such as the Grade II Bocking Arts Theatre need detection designed around their actual structure. Fire safety in Braintree is enforced by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, and we design and document every system so it stands up to their inspection.
For warehouses and stores, the responsible person's fire risk assessment usually asks two things: get people out, and protect the building and stock. That often means a combined life safety and property protection category, so detection reaches racking, mezzanines and storerooms, not just escape routes. We pick detector types for the conditions, heat where dust or fumes would cause false alarms, and set up remote signalling so a keyholder or monitoring centre knows straight away when the panel goes into fire overnight. Mezzanine offices added after the original fit-out are the common gap, so we check they have detection, sounders that can be heard over machinery and a call point on the way out. On newer estates such as Great Notley, landlords should have BS 5839-6 alarms working before every tenancy.
