Sarum Systems designs, installs, commissions and maintains fire alarms across Rayleigh, Hockley, Hullbridge and Rochford. We work for businesses, schools, HMO landlords, care settings and owners of shops with flats above, using Apollo detectors with Kentec and Advanced panels. Everything is done in-house by our own engineers from our base in Harlow. We service systems to BS 5839, take over panels that have gone unmaintained, and give maintained sites our three hour response commitment for faults.
HD & 4K camera systems with remote viewing, recording and smart motion alerts.
Wired & wireless intruder alarms, monitored and app-connected, fitted to BS EN 50131.
Keypad, fob and door-entry systems that control exactly who goes where.
Fire detection and alarm systems designed, installed and serviced to BS 5839.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, whoever controls a non-domestic building is the responsible person, and around Rayleigh that covers a broad spread of premises. The High Street has older buildings with shops below and flats or offices above, where a single staircase is often the only way out. Industrial units on Brook Road, Imperial Park and Rawreth Industrial Estate store stock, run machinery and often charge batteries for forklifts or tools. In Rochford, the Purdeys, Swaines and Riverside estates and Rochford Business Park near the airport add larger commercial premises. Where houses across the patch are let as HMOs, the landlord takes on duties for shared areas, and blocks of flats have common parts covered by the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Schools and care settings need detection designed around a supervised evacuation, with staff who know exactly where to go. Fire safety in Rayleigh is enforced by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, and we design and document every system so it stands up to their inspection.
The fire risk assessment decides the system, so we read it before we design anything. A shop with a flat above usually needs detection in the shop that warns the flat early, because the escape route passes the risk. An industrial unit might need an L category system for life safety with extra P category detection in a storage area. For HMOs, BS 5839-6 sets out grades and categories, with Grade D1 LD2 common in smaller shared houses and panel-based Grade A systems in larger ones. After install, non-domestic systems should be inspected and serviced at intervals of no more than six months under BS 5839-1. We book those visits, keep your logbook up to date and fit BS 5266 emergency lighting where escape routes need it.
