Sarum Systems designs, installs and maintains Hikvision CCTV across Basildon, from new build homes in Langdon Hills and Laindon to industrial units on Burnt Mills, Cranes Farm Road and Southfields. We cover south Essex from our base in Harlow, so there is no call centre between you and the engineer who surveys the job. The survey is free, the quote is fixed before anything goes on the wall, and maintained systems come with our three hour response commitment when a camera or recorder goes down.
HD & 4K camera systems with remote viewing, recording and smart motion alerts.
Wired & wireless intruder alarms, monitored and app-connected, fitted to BS EN 50131.
Keypad, fob and door-entry systems that control exactly who goes where.
Fire detection and alarm systems designed, installed and serviced to BS 5839.
Basildon was designated a new town in 1949 and grew around the old villages of Pitsea, Laindon and Vange, so several generations of building sit side by side. Post-war neighbourhoods such as Lee Chapel, Vange and Pitsea have terraces with rear footpaths and garage courts behind them, and that back approach is where most problems start. The newer edges look very different. Westley Green in Langdon Hills, Bentley Gardens off Dunton Road and Burnt Oaks on Burnt Mills Road are modern estates with parking courts, shared drives and side gates facing away from the street. The employment areas at Burnt Mills, Cranes Farm Road and Southfields in Laindon have long perimeters, roller shutters and yards that sit empty overnight, all with quick access to the A127. Each of those layouts needs cameras placed for it, not the same four camera kit fitted everywhere. External fittings have to respect local rules, and we always work to the guidance published by Basildon Council.
On a new build the first worry is usually the warranty and the finish. We fix into mortar joints rather than brick faces where we can, run cable through the loft or inside neat trunking instead of across the front elevation, and put the recorder somewhere sensible like a utility cupboard. Cameras go where the risk actually is: the parking court, the side passage and the front door, with the Hik-Connect app set up on your phone before we leave. On the older terraces in Pitsea and Vange the rear footpath is often the real way in, so one camera on the back gate does more than two on the front. Because estate homes sit close together, we mask out neighbours' gardens and windows, which keeps you on the right side of ICO guidance.
Basildon has new homes going up right across the borough, from Langdon Hills and Laindon to Burnt Mills and the town centre itself. If you have just moved in, we fit cameras once snagging is done, run cables through the loft and keep fixings to the minimum, so nothing complicates the builder's warranty.
