Hikvision CCTV Installation and Servicing in Essex

Sarum Systems installs and maintains Hikvision CCTV across Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk from our base in Harlow. We design systems for homes, shops, schools, construction sites and industrial units, fit and commission them in-house, and look after Hikvision systems that other companies installed. That includes recorders that have not had a firmware update in years, remote viewing that stopped working after a broadband change, and cameras that record everything but identify nobody. Free survey, a three hour response on maintained systems, and you speak to the engineer.

About Hikvision

Why we fit Hikvision.

Hikvision makes cameras, recorders and the Hik-Connect app, covering everything from a small home system to large commercial sites. Two of its technologies matter most on our jobs. AcuSense uses deep learning to classify movement as human, vehicle or other, so alerts come from people and cars rather than foliage and headlights, and some models add a strobe light and audio warning. ColorVu cameras pair large apertures with advanced sensors to give colour images in very low light, which helps when you need to describe clothing or a vehicle. Hikvision also makes Turbo HD cameras and DVRs, which can bring an older coaxial system up to HD without recabling.

Ranges we work with

Hikvision products we install and service.

Hikvision

AcuSense cameras

Network cameras that sort detections into human, vehicle and other, cutting false alerts from animals, rain and foliage. Some models add a strobe and audio warning to challenge intruders.

Hikvision

ColorVu cameras

Cameras built around large apertures and advanced sensors for colour footage in very low light, so you can describe clothing and vehicles rather than grey shapes.

Hikvision

AcuSense NVRs

Network video recorders that bring AcuSense filtering to the recorder and let you search footage for people or vehicles, instead of scrubbing through hours of recording.

Hikvision

Turbo HD cameras and DVRs

Analogue HD range that runs over coaxial cable, giving older systems an upgrade path to HD without the cost of pulling out existing cabling.

Hikvision

Hik-Connect app

Remote viewing on phones, tablets and computers, with live video, playback and event notifications from your Hikvision recorder once it is set up and secured properly.

What we do

Our Hikvision services.

Design and installation of Hikvision IP and Turbo HD systems

Upgrading old analogue cameras to AcuSense or ColorVu models
Existing systems

Already have Hikvision? We can take it over.

Most Hikvision systems we inherit work, but not well. The recorder has not been updated since the day it was fitted, the admin password sits with an installer nobody can reach, and Hik-Connect stopped working after a router swap. We start by checking every camera and the hard drive, then bring firmware up to date, because Hikvision publishes security advisories and fixed firmware for affected recorders and cameras. We reset user accounts so you hold the admin login, rebuild remote viewing and re-aim cameras so the footage is usable. Then you get a plain list of what is worth keeping and what is not.

Across Harlow, Essex and Hertfordshire, the Hikvision jobs we see are rarely about adding more cameras. Industrial units on Templefields and along the M11 corridor need AcuSense on the yard, so night alerts come from people and vehicles, not foxes. Construction sites need recording that keeps working as the site moves. Letting agents and landlords with shared entrances need cameras set to the boundary, so the system stays on the right side of UK GDPR. Schools need footage they can actually search when something goes missing, not a recorder in a cupboard nobody can log into.

FAQs

Hikvision questions we hear.

Usually a new router, a change of broadband provider, a changed password or a recorder that dropped off the account. We check the recorder's network settings, update firmware, re-link it to Hik-Connect and test viewing on your phone before we leave.
Yes. Hikvision publishes security advisories and fixed firmware for affected products, and an out of date recorder on the internet is a real risk. We update firmware as part of servicing and make sure the recorder is never powered off mid upgrade.
It depends on the position. ColorVu gives colour images in very low light, which helps identify clothing and vehicles. On a dark, open boundary an infrared camera may still be the better fit. We choose per camera at survey, not one type everywhere.
Often, yes. Hikvision's Turbo HD range runs HD cameras over coaxial cable, so an older analogue system can be upgraded without pulling out the cable runs, provided the cable is in decent condition. We test it before quoting.
If your cameras capture beyond your own boundary, such as the pavement or a neighbour's garden, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. We position cameras and set detection areas to keep you on the right side of it from day one.
