Sarum Systems designs, installs, commissions and maintains fire alarm systems in Epping and the CM16 villages, from shops and offices on the High Street to pubs with letting rooms, care settings, schools, HMOs and the hangars and workshops out at North Weald. We use Kentec and Advanced panels with Apollo detection, take over and service systems other companies fitted, and hold a three hour response commitment on maintained systems. Our Harlow base is just up the road, so surveys are free and quick to arrange.
HD & 4K camera systems with remote viewing, recording and smart motion alerts.
Wired & wireless intruder alarms, monitored and app-connected, fitted to BS EN 50131.
Keypad, fob and door-entry systems that control exactly who goes where.
Fire detection and alarm systems designed, installed and serviced to BS 5839.
Epping's High Street is a long run of mostly eighteenth century buildings, and the market held there every Monday dates back to a charter of 1253. Behind those frontages the use has changed many times: shops below, offices, treatment rooms or flats above, and cellars and rear extensions added piecemeal. Only two of the old coaching inns survive, The George and Dragon and The Black Lion, and premises like that, with bars, kitchens and rooms upstairs, need detection that wakes sleeping guests well before a kitchen fire spreads. Away from the High Street the picture changes again. St Margaret's Hospital is gaining a new community diagnostic centre, Epping St John's is the town's only mainstream secondary school, and North Weald Airfield has hangars and workshops with large open volumes. Each of those needs a different category of system, and none of them suits a standard package. Fire safety in Epping is enforced by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, and we design and document every system so it stands up to their inspection.
For a shop with a flat or offices above, the fire risk assessment usually points to automatic detection on the ground floor and the shared stair, so a fire in the shop is picked up before the escape route fills with smoke. Pubs and inns with letting rooms need detection in every bedroom and corridor, sounders loud enough to wake guests, and a panel staff can read under pressure. In care settings we design for staff-assisted evacuation, with clear zone information so carers know where to go first. Hangars and large workshops at North Weald suit beam detection and well placed manual call points rather than a roof full of point detectors. Shared houses in Epping with five or more occupants need an HMO licence from the district council, and the alarm has to suit the size and layout of the house.
